DATA SOURCES
& METHODOLOGY
We believe in transparency. Here's where the public information comes from, how we label evidence, and which sources are monitored for review.
Our Commitment to Accuracy
We only publish statistics we can verify from official sources. When data is estimated or calculated, we clearly label it as such.
Data directly from official sources like Hockey Canada reports.
Calculations based on verified data with clearly stated methodology.
Program listings submitted by providers and reviewed against available source information.
Source Standard
Official first
League, association, school, rink, organizer, provider, or sport-governing-body pages are the preferred source for facts, dates, prices, locations, and eligibility details.
Credible secondary, labeled
When official pages are incomplete or unavailable, credible secondary sources can be used, but they should be labeled as secondary and reviewed before strong claims are published.
Public Source Status Snapshot
These counts come from report snapshots and registry configuration. They are operating evidence, not a promise that every public listing is live-current at this moment. This snapshot used report-only dry-run mode, so official source checks ran without source-health writes, run logs, or candidate staging.
Manual-only coverage
17 registry source(s) are intentionally manual-only, including association context and social-first leads.
Stale or high-risk queue
The report snapshot shows 10 stale candidate(s) and 579 high-risk candidate(s) needing operator review.
Listing verification dry run
100 listing source link(s) were checked in a no-write review on 2026-06-04.
Source Operations Score
This score summarizes source-check operations, review queue pressure, failed checks, and manual-only coverage. It is not a full-database freshness guarantee or provider endorsement.
35% source-check health + 25% listing link review sample + 25% review queue pressure + 15% manual/source-risk separation
Source-check health
88/10068 source checks, 6 failed, 2 degraded.
Automated reachability failures become manual-review work; they are not silently marked current.
Listing link review sample
100/100100 of 100 listing source links reviewed in the latest no-write run.
Link reachability is not fact-level verification of dates, price, roster eligibility, or registration status.
Review queue pressure
0/100618 pending candidate(s), 579 high-risk candidate(s), 10 stale candidate(s), 4 action item(s).
Large queues lower the operating score even when individual link checks pass.
Manual/source-risk separation
43/10017 manual-only source(s), 2 social lead-only source(s), 6 failed automated source check(s).
Manual and social sources can identify leads, but they do not publish or update facts without review.
Public proof boundaries
- Dry-run versus live/current data is labelled wherever report-derived counts are shown.
- Source checked means a source or link was reviewed within the report process; it does not prove every listing fact is current.
- Link reachability is not fact-level verification of dates, costs, eligibility, sanction status, or program quality.
- Social and community sources are lead-only unless an official organizer source confirms the public facts.
Regenerate this report with npm run source:quality. The source ledger currently has 678 triage row(s); those rows are review workload, not confirmed factual defects.

Review State Meanings
Source checked
A listing source was reviewed for factual listing details. This is not a provider endorsement, quality approval, sanction approval, or recommendation.
Check current details
The source exists, but the check is old enough that families should confirm current dates, cost, and availability before registering.
Source needs confirmation
The listing has incomplete, missing, or low-confidence source evidence and should be reviewed before stronger claims are made.
Source conflict
Available sources disagree on an important fact such as dates, price, age range, location, or registration status.
Manual review required
Automated checks are blocked, unsuitable, or unavailable. A human reviewer must use the official source or organizer confirmation.
Lead only
A community, social, or alert source may identify a possible opportunity, but PuckReady looks for an official organizer source before publishing facts.
Blocked and Manual-Review Sources
Hockey Manitoba and similar official pages can block automated checks. PuckReady treats those as manual-review required, not silently current.
Sledge Hockey Manitoba
Manual review requiredAutomated check failed. Review the official or organizer source manually before claiming current coverage.
Selkirk Steelers Skills Camp
Manual review requiredAutomated check failed. Review the official or organizer source manually before claiming current coverage.
Hockey Manitoba Programs

Inclusion and Exclusion Rules
Included when reviewable
- Official organizer, league, school, rink, association, tournament, or sport-governing-body pages are preferred for public facts.
- Credible secondary sources can support a listing only when the page clearly labels the evidence as secondary or cross-check context.
- Direct submissions and corrections are reviewed before public data changes.
- Community, social, and alert sources are treated as leads until an official or organizer source confirms the listing facts.
Held, excluded, or softened
- Private messages, child-level personal information, and unsourced social claims are not public listing evidence.
- Old, generic, off-topic, duplicate, or non-hockey pages are suppressed or held for review.
- Blocked automated checks are not marked current; they become manual-review-required sources.
- Source checks do not verify coaching quality, safety, affiliation, sanction approval, or program recommendation.
Association Audit Standard
The association directory uses a May 12, 2026 off-season standard: a site can be current if it shows reasonable evidence from the just-completed season, current off-season administration, or early next-season activity. Second-pass source checks may add official source links after the original audit, but unresolved rural rows remain labelled as follow-up leads.
Off-season currentness
AGM notices, spring tryouts, coach applications, year-end reports, current board pages, and recent playoff or registration evidence can all count as current.
Platform migrations
TeamLinkt, HockeyTech, HomeTeamsOnline, Spordle, GOALLINE, and old LeagueLineup or Geocities links are labelled so stale domains are not mistaken for official current sources.
Follow-up boundaries
Rural rows without a resolved official site remain visible as review leads. PuckReady does not claim the full Manitoba MHA website universe is complete.

Discovery Coverage Checks

Methodology Notes
NHL Draft Odds
Our NHL statistics are framed as estimates and should be read as directional rather than exact odds. We compare long-run Hockey Canada registration data, junior draft context, and career-length thresholds because:
- Draft picks today come from cohorts that registered 12-15 years ago
- Being drafted does not guarantee an NHL career
- Many drafted players never play a single NHL game
Registration Fees
Fee ranges are sourced from individual minor hockey association websites. We report base registration costs, which typically don't include additional team fees, tournament fees, or equipment. Fees are updated annually as associations publish new rates.
Program Listings
Programs are submitted by providers through our submission form. Our team reviews submissions for accuracy before publishing. We do not verify coaching credentials or guarantee program quality.
Claim Review
Strong public claims should connect to this source standard or be softened. When a page uses a credible secondary source, the page should make that clear instead of presenting it as official data.
